The argument behind Hollow Purple travelling faster than light is that it was described to be an imaginary mass, which in quantum physics involves tachyonic fields and particles. Tachyonic fields contain imaginary mass, and tachyon particles are hypothetical particles that always travel faster than light. Purple is also not seen travelling in the manga when Gojo uses it against Hanami and Toji, and instead appears to hit its target instantly.

While Sukuna is one of the fastest characters in the series, I don’t think he is fast enough to react to an FTL attack. The other times Gojo uses it in the manga it’s not clear how fast it travels; here, I think it’s pretty clear that it’s not FTL.
